Veolia and its partners launch the “Nuclear Innovation Consortium”

On February, 19, Veolia’s Nuclear Solutions and its partners have formed the “Nuclear Innovation Consortium” in Toronto, Canada.
Veolia’s Nuclear Solutions, in association with Hatch, the Ontario-headquartered global engineering firm, and Promation Nuclear, a leading designer and manufacturer of tooling, automation, and robotic systems, will deliver fresh innovation to the nuclear industry. Nuclear Innovation Consortium aims to have a positive impact with key clients who own major programs such as the ongoing refurbishment programs at Darlington and Bruce Power, or the accelerated revitalization of Canadian Nuclear Laboratories.  The Consortium was unveiled before the Canadian Nuclear Association Annual Conference which gathers all the nuclear industry leaders, stakeholders and academics in Ottawa, Ontario, from February 21-23, 2018.

More than partners, a team

Hatch will bring their multi-industry experience and technology-focused solutions to the innovation consortium. With Hatch’s large global reach, the consortium can lean on their multidisciplinary and award-winning engineering and project management skills to solve challenges faced by the nuclear industry. “The synergy was clear when Hatch, Veolia’s Nuclear Solutions, and Promation first met to discuss the consortium. We are a team that will bring fresh, smart, and proven solutions that the nuclear industry is seeking.” says Amar Jolly, Hatch’s Global Director, Nuclear.

On its side, Promation is supported by its four divisions: Nuclear, Automotive, Industrial, and Defence.  Promation Nuclear Ltd has been delivering custom engineered solutions to the nuclear industry for over a decade.  A turnkey tooling solutions provider for nuclear utilities, Promation Nuclear bring their entrepreneurial passion and spirit to the consortium. Promation Nuclear provides full scope services necessary to research, develop, engineer, test, and build custom tooling solutions. “We felt the consortium was a natural fit for Promation. Our agility and get-it-done mindset allows us to compliment Hatch and Veolia’s large global reach.” says Darryl Spector, Vice President and General Manager, Promation Nuclear.

An added value for Veolia’s Nuclear Solutions

The consortium will be fostered by our comprehensive range of innovative technologies, operations, and services for nuclear industry. Our integrated value chain includes a broad range of expertise, technologies and services. Currently delivering innovative solutions in Canada, United States, United Kingdom, France, and Japan, Veolia’s Nuclear Solutions will bring many benefits to the consortium, especially through our investigation and characterization skills, remote access solutions, and separation technologies.

“We are excited to bring our global experience in nuclear operations, remediation, and remote access solutions to this nuclear-focused innovation incubator” said David Campbell, Veolia’ Nuclear Solutions Senior Vice President and a member of the Canadian Nuclear Association Board of Directors.  “Our experience suggests that when you have very large capital and labour intensive, multi-year execution construction programs, proven and demonstrated innovations from similar projects around the world can result in large cost and schedule savings benefiting our clients” highlights  David Campbell.
