This facility is critical to our future, as a technology-based organisation, we are investing in growth, in our people and in developing our already innovative set of solutions.

David Loughborough
Managing Director

Located at 18 Nuffield Way in Abingdon, the new headquarters covers 32,000 square feet and includes an innovative research & development area that will allow Veolia Nuclear Solutions to leverage its investment and grow its distinctive combination of technology-based solutions to the nuclear industry while deploying its expertise and capabilities around the globe. The investment in the new headquarters underscores Veolia’s mission of being the world leader in ecological transformation, as well as its commitment to investing in the local communities in which it operates.

“We will continue building and delivering complex and challenging projects that support some of the most challenging environmental clean-up programmes here in the UK, in France, Japan and around the world,” Loughborough said during the event. He highlighted the distinctive history of the Veolia Nuclear Solutions UK team, and their work on major projects such as the Dounreay Shaft and the ongoing work at the Fukushima Daiichi site in Japan.

A number of top Veolia officials were on hand in addition to staff members and their families, including Veolia Nuclear Solutions Chairman Jean François Nogrette and Veolia Nuclear Solutions CEO Dominique Richit. The group celebrated the grand opening of the new headquarters while also enjoying guided tours of the new facility.

The opening of the new Abingdon headquarters is part of an ambitious growth strategy focused on developing and delivering the nuclear waste treatment and remote handling technologies that will support the clean-up of some of the UK and world’s most hazardous environments.  This investment will see Veolia Nuclear Solutions UK continue to grow its UK-based headcount which will soon be complimented by an investment in a new office in Birchwood Park, Warrington. The Abingdon site, which represents an investment of £1million, more than doubles its current office, assembly and R&D space and is expected to employ 140 at the location by the end of the year, up from 90 at the beginning of 2021.
