VNSFS has been awarded a Five-Year Basic Ordering Agreement from the U.S. Department of Energy

VNS Federal Services (VNSFS) has been awarded a five-year Basic Ordering Agreement (BOA) from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to help the agency clean up Low-Level and Mixed Low-Level Waste at legacy sites around the U.S

VNSFS is the U.S. nuclear operations company of Veolia, delivering the Group’s global capabilities to the U.S. government and across North America. With industry-leading technologies, waste management, facility operations and D&D expertise, VNSFS provides a full suite of innovations to assist the nuclear industry with the legacy waste liability and decommissioning needs that are challenging sites across North America.

VNSFS will provide DOE with unique treatment services through its national network of treatment services, including the GeoMelt® in-container vitrification technology, which has successfully treated sodium-bearing wastes from DOE – one of the services highlighted in the BOA scope.

Veolia’s Alaron Nuclear Services, a fully licensed and integrated Radioactive Materials Facility in Pennsylvania, will also be used to treat and dispose of low-level waste as part of the BOA.

Veolia is pleased to be able to offer these waste treatment services through the BOA, as well as ancillary services related to waste packaging, shipping and technical support.

About GeoMelt®:

GeoMelt® yields the lowest lifecycle cost for waste management by merging technological flexibility and scalability to create an effective, reliable treatment approach. GeoMelt® provides a common platform allowing it to be uniquely configured to address a wide range of treatment challenges. The high temperature vitrification process transforms radioactive, hazardous and mixed wastes into a volume-reduced robust, obsidian-like inert glass waste form for safe storage, transportation and disposal.

About Alaron:
