The Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power plant disaster in 2011 posed a major challenge to nuclear safety.
To address this, the French Nuclear Safety Authority (ASN) introduced "post Fukushima" countermeasures. One such challenge was to study the feasibility of installing containment devices to prevent radioactive contamination in case of a serious reactor failure.
